A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano State, Honourable Abdullahi Umar, has slammed the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr Dumebi Kachikwu, over his recent threat against members of the newly formed political coalition.

Kachikwu had described members of the coalition as enemies of Nigeria and hinted at taking legal action against the party.

Reacting in Kano, Abdullahi, a former House of Representatives aspirant for Tarauni Federal Constituency, dismissed Kachikwu’s comments as baseless and laughable.

“I find it laughable and mind-boggling how a mere inconsequential former presidential candidate would lay claim to being a stakeholder,” he said.

Abdullahi stressed that Kachikwu is not a member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) or the National Executive Committee (NEC), and therefore lacks the authority to act on behalf of the ADC.

“So, his threat of legal action against our party, the ADC, is baseless and a smirk of contempt for democratic norms. He didn’t embark on a nationwide campaign, neither did he consult widely as a serious contender. He was just a pretender,” he stated.

He further alleged that Kachikwu had no foundational ties to the party and never contributed to its growth.

“An African adage says, he who desires a mat should first own a part of the land to lay the mat. Mr Kachikwu should have joined other presidential candidates to own the ADC land before talking about laying any mat,” Abdullahi added.

He described Kachikwu as a political jobber with no electoral value and recalled his past clashes with ADC leadership before the 2023 elections.

“He is not a partyman,” he said.

Abdullahi also claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is jittery over the growing strength of the coalition, which he said has become a viable alternative platform for Nigerians.

“It is clear, the APC is jittery. Nigerians have finally gotten a platform to challenge and replace the APC, which has caused a lot of excruciating pain,” he said.

He warned Kachikwu against acting as a stooge or mole for the ruling party and urged Nigerians to be vigilant against political jobbers who align with oppressors.
