On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, the Muslim community gathered at the Muslim Community Centre, Naseemia Shamimia, 155 Thorold Road, Chatham, Kent ME5 7DR, to bid a solemn farewell to Alhaja Ronke Salimot Lawal. It was a day of deep reflection, prayers, and a celebration of a life well lived.
The funeral proceedings began at 11:00 am with a private viewing for close family and friends. This quiet moment allowed loved ones to pay their final respects and cherish the memories shared with Alhaja Ronke.
At 1:15 pm, the Zuhr Prayers were observed at the Muslim Community Centre, seeking Allah’s mercy and blessings for the departed soul. Shortly after, at 1:45 pm, the procession departed for Chatham Cemetery, where the graveside Janaza (Funeral) Prayer was performed in the Muslim Section of Chatham Cemetery, Palmerston Road, Chatham, ME4 6LT.
At 2:00 pm, the Janaza Salah (Funeral Prayer) was conducted at the cemetery, with family members, friends, and well-wishers praying for Alhaja Ronke’s soul, asking Allah to grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus. The burial followed at 2:15 pm, accompanied by additional prayers and supplications. The day’s proceedings concluded at 3:00 pm.
A Life Remembered
Alhaja Ronke Salimot Lawal was a woman of virtue, kindness, and unwavering faith. Her presence in the lives of those around her was a source of inspiration, and her legacy of love, compassion, and devotion to her faith will forever remain in the hearts of her family and community.
She is survived by her beloved family members:
- Ibrahim Lawal
- Nike Lawal
- Qudus Lawal
In this moment of grief, we find solace in the words of the Holy Quran, Surah Al-Baqarah, Chapter 2, Verse 156:
“To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.”
Among those who graced the solemn occasion was Olayomi Koiki, whose presence reflected the deep bond of friendship and support for the bereaved family.
May Allah grant Alhaja Ronke Salimot Lawal eternal rest and reward her with Al-Jannah Firdaus. Ameen.
