Agency Report
Chelsea have confirmed Mykhailo Mudryk has been contacted by the FA over an apparent failed drugs test.
The Ukraine international continues to prove an integral figure for Enzo Maresca’s side after featuring 15 times in all competitions to date this season.
But he has not been available for the previous five games with the Blues’ manager citing illness as the cause for the 23-year-old’s absence.
Mudryk has now been provisionally suspended from football due to what Stamford Bridge chiefs claim was an “adverse finding” in a sample from routine testing.
“Chelsea can confirm the Football Association recently contacted our player Mykhailo Mudryk concerning an adverse finding in a routine urine test,” read a club statement.
“Both the club and Mykhailo fully support the FA’s testing programme and all our players, including Mykhailo, are regularly tested.
“Mykhailo has confirmed categorically that he has never knowingly used any banned substances.
“Both Mykhailo and the club will now work with the relevant authorities to establish what has caused the adverse finding. The club will not be commenting any further.”
Mudryk joined Chelsea in January 2023 from Shakhtar Donetsk for an initial €70m.
