OGUN, Nigeria – A yet-to-be-identified middle-aged woman on Tuesday, slumped and died mysteriously in Nigeria’s Ogun State.
The woman, said to be a trader – alighted from an 18-seater bus coming from Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, slumped and gave up the ghost, witnesses said.
The incident happened around 7:30 am on Tuesday at the Iyana-Cele axis of the expressway.
A young man who pleaded anonymity said he rushed to the scene and gave the woman liquid milk to revive her, but she eventually died.
“The woman died just like that, the moment I saw her collapsed after coming down from the bus, i rushed to the scene and tried to revive her with a liquid milk I had with me, while other occupants of the bus and passersby joined the revival attempt,” he said.
The deceased was said to be a mother of twins, the twins were said to have died a week before the Eid Al-Adha week, according to her fellow traders.
The deceased’s fellow traders who were in the bus with her, said she asked the bus driver to stop, citing discomfort, and saying she wanted to visit the toilet.
They said the woman gave no sign of discomfort before the bus took off from Abeokuta.

Our correspondent contacted the Ogun State Police Command concerning the incident, and a senior police officer told our reporter that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in Ifo would be alerted.
The traders told KOIKI Media correspondent that the deceased loaded her goods into the bus by herself.
They said, before the incident, they were all heading to Iyana Ipaja in Lagos State to sell their markets.
The husband was, however, alerted over the passing of her wife.
Two hours later, the deceased’s husband arrived at the scene with a Toyota RAV4 car, picked up his wife’s remains amid tears and drove off.

Police operatives stormed the scene few minutes later and trailed the deceased’s husband who drove towards Abeokuta way.
The other occupants of the passenger bus – including the driver were also taken away by the police for information on the incident.
An official statement has not been released by the police.

In a related incident, a tricycle on motion –  was hit by another fast-moving passenger vehicle from behind, causing the tricycle to tumble and skidding off the expressway.

Occupants of the tricycle which was badly damaged, were rescued with minor injuries, while the hit-and-run vehicle fled the scene.
