A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of a 35-year-old woman, Ifeoma Nwafor, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over allegations of cyberstalking involving the Managing Director of Eleganza Industrial City Limited, Mrs Folashade Okoya.

Nwafor was brought before Justice Deinde Dipeolu on a three-count charge filed by the police, bordering on conspiracy and cyberstalking. She pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

According to the prosecution, Nwafor allegedly used several Instagram accounts to publish materials described as offensive, false, malicious and intended to cause annoyance, fear, intimidation, injury or unnecessary anxiety to Okoya, who is the wife of billionaire businessman Razaq Okoya.

The police alleged that Nwafor and some other individuals, who are still at large, conspired in June 2026 along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos to commit a felony.

The prosecution further accused her of using Instagram accounts, including @cutie_juis and @truestorieswithifeomafa, to circulate photographs of Okoya and statements which the police described as defamatory and capable of exposing her to ridicule, suspicion, gossip and scandal.

Another Instagram account, @truestorieswithifeomafans, was also allegedly used to publish materials considered derogatory to the complainant.

Following her plea, Nwafor’s lawyer, O.J. Aduwa, applied for bail, relying on relevant provisions of the Nigerian Constitution. He urged the court to grant bail on liberal terms and assured the judge that his client would remain available throughout the trial.

The prosecution counsel, Stanley Nwafoaku of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon, Ikoyi, did not oppose the bail application, although he drew the court’s attention to the nature of the alleged offences.

In his ruling, Justice Dipeolu granted Nwafor bail in the sum of N3 million, with two sureties in like sum. The court stipulated that the sureties must reside within its jurisdiction, while one must be a blood relation of the defendant.

The sureties were also ordered to provide evidence of three years’ tax payments, their National Identification Numbers and photographs, as well as swear affidavits confirming compliance with the bail conditions.

The judge further directed Nwafor to sign an undertaking that she would make herself available whenever required for the trial.

However, because the bail conditions had not yet been perfected, Justice Dipeolu ordered that the defendant remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending compliance.

The police said the alleged offences contravened provisions of the Criminal Code and the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.

Nwafor told the court that she was originally from Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State but was born in Lagos.

She also provided details of her educational background, stating that she attended Christian Council of Nigeria Primary School, Roxton International School and later graduated from Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Osun State.

The court subsequently adjourned the matter until November 8, 2026, for trial.

The allegations against Nwafor remain unproven, as she has pleaded not guilty and is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the court.
