The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has been accused of allocating prime Abuja lands worth billions of naira to his family members, allies, and associates.

According to a report by Peoples Gazette, Wike approved 33 land allocations on July 16, 2025, for his relatives and close associates. Among the beneficiaries was his 90-year-old father, Joshua Nlemanya Wike, who reportedly received a plot in Guzape II valued at N400 million.

Other family members listed as beneficiaries include his paternal cousin, Believe Wike; nephews, Victor Wike and Henry Wike; and cousin, Enwusonye Promise Wike. The report also revealed that eight relatives of James Hunwo were allotted plots on the same day.

This is reportedly not Wike’s first controversial land allocation. In April 2025, six of his siblings were also granted lands in Guzape II. They include Vincent Ejike Wike, Chidi Sam Wike, Chituru Wike, Christian Ibebulachi Wike, Collins Ngeme Wike, and Emmanuel Okanwene Wike.

Documents cited by the paper show the land sizes ranged between 2,158 and 2,813 square metres, with each allocation granted a right of occupancy.

Sources told Peoples Gazette that Wike has openly boasted about his significant role in President Bola Tinubu’s election, often claiming that his political influence shields him from accountability.

“He keeps reminding us of how he made heavy investment to help the president in 2023,” an insider said. “He even said the president can’t do anything to him, and no judge in 2025 Nigeria would dare convict him of any stupid corruption.”

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga directed inquiries about the allegations to Wike’s media aides. However, Wike’s spokesman declined to comment.

The report added that Wike has consistently denied any wrongdoing, insisting that allocating lands to family members does not violate Nigerian laws.
