A 21-year-old man, Abba Bello, has died after being tortured by a vigilante group in the Tudun Nupawa area of Kaduna State.

Bello was arrested on April 2, 2025, by a security guard at Old Panteka market, suspected of theft.

Under the supervision of Abdullahi Usman, believed to be a commander of the group, Bello was brutally beaten.

The torture left him unconscious and in critical condition, as reported by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.

Bello was first rushed to Yusuf Dantsoho Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday around 5 a.m.

The family declined a post-mortem examination, and his body was released for burial.

Police have confirmed an investigation is underway, with efforts to apprehend Usman and other individuals involved in the incident.
