Tyler Perry: ‘I’ll Never Get Married’ – Hollywood Mogul Explains Decision

Hollywood actor, filmmaker and entertainment mogul Tyler Perry has revealed that he has no plans to get married, saying he would rather protect the life and wealth he has built.

The 57-year-old actor, who has never been married, made the disclosure while appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show during a discussion about his latest film, Why Did I Get Married Again?, which premiered on Netflix on September 9.

Perry told host Jennifer Hudson that his decision was largely influenced by what he described as a “divorce pandemic,” arguing that divorce has caused serious financial setbacks for many people he knows.

“I’m never marrying. It’s actually the divorce pandemic that is happening. Everybody that I know that is doing well went broke because of divorce,” Perry said.

The Hollywood mogul stressed that his decision was not because he had stopped believing in love or relationships. Rather, he said he was concerned about the financial and legal consequences that could arise from marriage and subsequent divorce.

Perry also explained that his priorities have changed as he has grown older. He said he now wants to spend more time enjoying life and being present for his son instead of maintaining the demanding pace of his Hollywood career.

“It’s time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son and just take it all in,” he said.

Perry has an 11-year-old son, Aman, with his former partner, Gelila Bekele. The pair were in a relationship from 2009 until 2020.

The actor also revealed plans to relocate to Puerto Rico at the beginning of 2027 with his son. He said he intends to significantly reduce his workload in Hollywood and take a more relaxed approach to his career and personal life.

Perry’s comments come as he promotes Why Did I Get Married Again?, the third instalment of his film franchise, which has explored themes including marriage, infidelity, relationships and divorce since the original film was released in 2007.

Despite his decision not to marry, Perry maintained that he still believes in love and companionship.

However, he said he does not see a legal marriage contract as something he wants for himself at this stage of his life.
