Two students have been arrested for allegedly electrocuting one Blaise Felix, a 15-year-old student of Air Force Comprehensive School, Kaduna State, northern Nigeria.
The late Felix, an orphan, was said to have lost his parents in 2013.
Felix was said to have been allegedly murdered by two Senior Secondary students (SS3) of the school in the dormitory within the Air Force Base in Mando, Kaduna.
According to a source, two students behind the act have been arrested and currently in detention in undisclosed detention facilities.
The body of the deceased was said to have been deposited in the mortuary pending the conclusion of investigation to unravel the cause of his death.
The Nigerian Air Force, owners of the school are keeping sealed lips but an official who craved anonymity disclosed that investigation was ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A source told The Whistler news agency that the incident occurred on June 19, 2024 where the two SS3 students invited the deceased to their room to punish him but ended up allegedly killing him.
“What I gathered was that the two SS3 students who just finished their WAEC and were waiting for the NECO examination invited Felix who’s an Assistant Head Boy to one of their rooms to punish him.
“I gathered that the two SS3 students suspected to be behind the act were arrested,” the source added.
Chairman of the school’s Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), alleged that “Felix died as a result of being punished by an SS3 student who did an illegal connection of electricity in the room and the deceased student had contact with the iron bed during the course of punishment and was electrocuted and eventually died.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force has commenced investigation into the death of a 15-year old student.
Although the statement did not mention the name of the student, it said the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar was deeply sad over the incident.
According to the statement issued by the NAF spokesman, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, “the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar and indeed the entire NAF family are saddened by the painful and unfortunate incident of the untimely death of one of our students at Air Force Secondary School, Kaduna on 19 Jun 24.
“To avoid all sorts of speculations, a thorough investigation is currently ongoing to unravel how, why and what actually led to the death of the victim.
“Rest assured that this matter is receiving the utmost urgency it deserves, and we won’t rest until it is unravelled.”
Felix left behind his brother who is in JSS2 in the same boarding school.
