President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to intensify efforts to eliminate the remnants of Boko Haram following a deadly suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, over the weekend.
He described the attack, which targeted civilians, as a cowardly and desperate act by insurgents under pressure. Tinubu urged the armed forces to respond with decisive operations to wipe out the terrorists.
The President expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the government and people of Borno State. He also ordered the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to immediately support survivors and affected families.
In a separate statement, Tinubu sympathised with the victims of Saturday’s explosion at a scrap metal factory in Kano State, which claimed five lives and left ten others injured.
He emphasised the need for strict adherence to workplace safety standards and directed relevant agencies to investigate the cause of the explosion to prevent future tragedies.
“The safety of all Nigerians, whether in their communities or places of work, is a priority,” he said.
