Being a text of a speech delivered this 19th day of April 2025 at the town hall meeting of the Yoruba Nation Global Directorate
Director`s opening speech.
Good day to our fathers, mothers, and Yoruba sons and daughters wherever you are across the world. I have the great honour to welcome you again to this sacred gathering space where our voices converge, hopes are nurtured, and vision is sharpened.
Whenever we come together, we are doing so to reaffirm not just our commitment to the cause of self-determination, but also our belief in collective wisdom. In these moments, across borders and time zones, we build something greater than any one of us can build alone. This weekly meeting is not merely a ritual, it is a living, breathing expression of our agency and unity.
In this space, ideas do not just echo; they evolve. Questions become strategies. Concerns are transformed into commitments. Through our shared stories and updates, we illuminate paths forward for our people.
Every time we gathered here, not to simply just speak but to be heard, not only to listen but to act. Our journey is not defined only by our speeches, but rather by what those speeches inspire us to become and to do. This town hall is a compass; it helps us orient or reorient ourselves in a complex world and reminds us that we are not alone, even when the road is hard.
Today, as always, we should all speak truth with courage, listen with purpose, and engage with dignity. Let every contribution be a step forward. Let every voice strengthen the foundation of our collective dream.
