Gunmen attacked Igbo Ofe Ora community near Oke-Ode in Kwara State’s Ifelodun Local Government Area on Tuesday, kidnapping a housewife, Rukayat, and shooting her brother-in-law, Abdulateef.

The attackers, who arrived around 11 am, fired shots before taking the woman away, family sources told Newsmen on Tuesday evening.

The woman who was kidnapped is my uncle’s wife, and it happened yesterday, according to the source.

This incident is part of a recent surge in kidnappings in Nigeria, with multiple attacks targeting schools, churches, and communities, leaving hundreds abducted and sparking widespread concern.

According to reports, Rukayat was the only one taken, and the abductors have reached out to the family, asking for a N100 million ransom.

The family had a tough time getting medical attention for another brother due to a doctors’ strike at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, leading to a transfer to a private hospital. Security agencies haven’t made any official comments on the situation, and the community is still on edge.
