KATSINA – Terrorists – locally dubbed as bandits on Sunday evening reportedly killed at least two people identified as Tajoddeen and Aminu in Runka town in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.
Bakastine, a conflict journalist based in the Northwest region of the country, made this known in a post on X, saying the deceased persons were personnel of Katsina Community Watch Corps.
“SAD NEWS: Yesterday night, bandits attacked Runka town in Safana LGA, Katsina State, killing two members of the Katsina Community Watch Corps, Tajoddeen and Aminu. May the Almighty bring peace to the Northwest region and end this crisis,” the journalist wrote.
In a separate post, the journalist said another set of bandits attacked Kanon Haki village in the Faskari Local Government Area of the state and abducted several people.
He said the terrorists also looted shops and stole livestock being reared by the residents of the community.
“SAD NEWS: Just minutes ago, bandits attacked Kanon Haki village in Faskari LGA, Katsina State. They abducted several people, looted shops and stole livestock. May the Almighty rescue all those held captive by these bandits,” Bakastine wrote.
He added in another post: “Yesterday night, bandits attacked Tuge town in Musawa LGA, abducting several people including children & married women. In a similar incident, they also attacked Marabar Kankara in Malumfashi LGA, abducting two people. Both attacks occurred in Katsina State.”
Bakastine also said an attack took place in Shirgi village in Batsari Local Government Area of the state.
He said the attack led to the death of 2 people and abduction of 20 others.
The Katsina State Police Command did not respond to requests for comment.
