The situation in Ungwan Nungu, Kaduna State, is tense following threats from terrorists after a military operation resulted in the death of two terrorists and the recovery of weapons and money. Reports indicate that 10 residents, including six women and four men, were abducted on November 29 while working on their farms.
The terrorists claim the community alerted soldiers, leading to the ambush. Authorities are reportedly working to address the situation.
Another resident recounted an earlier attack on a Saturday in Ungwan Nungu where about 15 people, mostly children, were abducted.
“Zuberu Adiga (one of the victims) and four others were later abandoned because they were weak and could not keep up with the terrorists’ movement,” the source said.
In the audio, a terrorist was loudly heard vowing that the group would “retaliate” for the loss of their men and their rifle.
“We thank you for what you have done for us. I hope you people want to live peacefully with us,” he said in the audio.
Residents of Ungwan Nungu are now living in fear of terrorist retaliation, with threats made against farmlands, roads, and nearby settlements. Even after recent military actions, the community feels unprotected and at risk of more attacks.
