In another horrifying episode of rising insecurity in Kwara North, armed bandits launched coordinated attacks on three communities under the Lafiagi Emirate on Saturday night, abducting a prominent businessman and a woman, and killing one resident.

According to local sources who spoke with NupekoTV-Lafiagi, the latest wave of violence struck the Gbugbu, Guye Dadi, and Ekko communities, leaving residents traumatized and helpless amid growing fears of total security collapse.

In Gbugbu, the attackers stormed the community and kidnapped Alhaji Yau, a well-known businessman and phone dealer. Witnesses described the abduction as a daring operation that sent shockwaves across the area.

Shortly afterward, the bandits proceeded to Guye Dadi, reportedly targeting Alhaji Manle, another high-profile individual. Though he was not home during the attack, his wife was abducted in his absence.

At the same time, Ekko village came under siege. The assailants killed one resident and abducted another, escalating the human toll of the night’s coordinated assault.

This string of synchronized attacks underscores a deepening security crisis in Kwara North, particularly across the Lafiagi Emirate, where residents now live in constant fear. The violence follows recent incidents in Lata Nna, where vigilantes were ambushed and vehicles torched, forcing families to flee.

Other prior incidents include the abduction of Yman, a POS agent, along with two children of another operator in Lafiagi. Similarly, Alhaji Chemical, a prominent agro-chemical trader, was seized by gunmen in a separate incident.

The frequency and brazenness of these attacks have intensified calls for urgent government intervention. Locals are demanding that both state and federal authorities deploy robust security measures to dismantle the criminal networks terrorizing their communities.

Efforts to get an official response from the Kwara State Police Command have so far been unsuccessful. The command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, failed to respond to calls or reply to a message seeking comment.

As tension continues to mount across Kwara North, residents say they are left with little more than prayers and hope as they watch their communities fall under siege, one after another.
