The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Council in Taraba State has rejected the reported plan by Governor Agbu Kefas to defect to the ruling party, describing it as unacceptable and contrary to the ideals of the APC.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Jalingo, the council’s coordinator, Bilyamin Musa, said the youths had passed a vote of no confidence in the governor, arguing that his leadership style and ideology were inconsistent with the party’s progressive principles.
“We reject Governor Agbu Kefas’ defection. He is not a progressive leader, and APC is not a party for his calibre,” Musa declared.
The group accused the governor of lacking vision and failing to deliver meaningful development in his two years in office. They called on the APC national leadership to safeguard the party’s integrity and reaffirmed their loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
However, Governor Kefas’ Special Adviser on Legal Matters, Barrister Sani Marke, welcomed the planned defection, describing it as a bold and strategic step for Taraba’s advancement.
He said the move was intended to align the state with the Federal Government’s development agenda and commended APC leaders for their openness in receiving the governor.
