Students Demand Resolution of AAUA ASUU Strike Within 72 Hours

Students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), have issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Ondo State Government to resolve the ongoing ASUU strike, warning that failure to act could lead to peaceful mass action by students.

In a statement signed by Students’ Union President Falagbade Greatness and General Secretary Amos Oluwatimileyin, the union said the strike has halted academic activities, disrupted the academic calendar, and left many students facing uncertainty and hardship.

The students called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and relevant authorities to urgently engage with ASUU-AAUA leaders and find a lasting solution to the dispute.

They stressed that their demand is a sincere appeal driven by the challenges students are experiencing rather than a threat.

Reacting, the university management said the strike is already receiving the attention of the Ondo State Government and is expected to be resolved soon.

Deputy Registrar for Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Sola Imoru, disclosed that Governor Aiyedatiwa had approved a special intervention fund to help the university meet its financial obligations.

He appealed to students to remain patient while efforts to end the industrial action continue.

The management reaffirmed its commitment to dialogue, transparency, and constructive engagement with all stakeholders, expressing confidence that normal academic activities would resume soon.
