Sony has increased the prices of some PlayStation 5 consoles in Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other select markets due to global economic difficulties.
The tech giant said the price of the PS5 Digital Edition, which does not include a disk drive, would rise by more than 10 percent in these regions.
It attributed the hike to “a challenging economic environment, including high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates”.
The company confirmed that the price of the standard PS5 with a Blu-ray drive would also increase in Australia and New Zealand.
It added that customers in the Middle East and Africa would experience some price adjustments, but no specific figures were disclosed.
However, the recommended price for the standalone PS5 disk drive will decrease.
Sony noted that the PS5 Pro model, launched in November 2024, would remain unaffected by the price changes.
The new prices take effect from Monday.
In the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition will now sell for £429.99 ($566.53), while in Europe, it will cost €499.99 ($570.04).
The company said the changes would not affect the United States market.
