The Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade in Lokoja rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered ₦3.8 million ransom meant for their release, according to Brigade Spokesperson, Lt Hassan Abdullahi.
The operation took place on Sunday in Achigili Forest, Kogi State, following credible intelligence on kidnapping activities in the area.
The troops from 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, stationed at Forward Operating Base Oguma, rescued two kidnapped victims, a male and a female, in Achigili Forest along the Itobe-Adumu-Ejule road on Sunday.
The rescue operation was a result of credible intelligence on kidnapping activities in the area.
Amirah, an acid attack victim, is struggling to raise ₦474m, saying “every day is torture”. Meanwhile, Nigerian Army troops rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered ₦3.8m ransom in Kogi State.
The operation followed credible intelligence on kidnapping activities along the Itobe-Adumu-Ejule axis. Troops intercepted the bandits in Achigili Forest, engaging them with superior firepower after coming under fire. The bandits fled, abandoning the victims and ransom.
The rescued victims were debriefed, and the recovered cash was returned to them.
“They are currently being held safely at the troops’ location, awaiting transfer to the relevant authorities,” Abdullahi said.
The Nigerian Army, Abdullahi said, remained resolute and unwavering in its determination to protect lives and property.
The army called on members of the public to continually support the military and other security agencies by providing timely and credible information that will aid in the fight against criminal elements within the state.” Abdullahi said.
