Seven persons, including women and children, were killed and several others declared missing following a midnight attack by suspected armed herdsmen on Agbo Vengav community in Udam, Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.

The attack, which occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Friday, threw the community into chaos as residents were roused from sleep by the sound of gunfire.

Sources told KoikiMedia learnt that a young girl was among those killed, while her mother was abducted by the assailants.

Her whereabouts remain unknown as of the time of filing this report.

“The attack on the community started around 1:00 a.m. on Friday. So far, seven bodies have been recovered and a search is ongoing for those still missing,” a resident disclosed.

Efforts to get confirmation from the Benue State Police Command proved abortive, as the spokesperson’s mobile line was unreachable.
