OSOGBO – One of the phone numbers linked to Nigeria’s Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been stolen by unidentified scammers.

Governor Adeleke’s spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, announced this in a statement on Tuesday.

“Please disregard any solicitation from +234 803 365 7555. Appropriate action is ongoing to remedy the situation,” Rasheed said, referring to the public.

“Authorities are currently investigating the breach and are working diligently to secure the governor’s communication lines.

“The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.”

In February 2024,  criminals hacked Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu’s phone number and dished out orders.

Statement from Governor Otu’s chief press secretary, Emmanuel Ogbeche, said the criminals sent out unsolicited messages allegedly from the governor – seeking financial assistance.

Also in April 2020, Enugu State Government issued a statement – revealing that the private phone number of the-then governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi had been compromised by suspected fraudsters.

The statement signed by the-then state commissioner for information, Hon. Aroh Chidi noted that the fraudsters embarked on calling unsuspecting members of the public with the line.
