Nigeria – Rivers: Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has warned against attempts to associate him with any militant group.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara dismissed claims linking him to alleged pipeline attacks, describing them as deliberate misinformation.

The statement noted that communities where the supposed incidents occurred had denied any explosions on oil and gas facilities, affirming that all government assets in their areas remained secure and fully operational.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no link to any militant group, does not contemplate such an association, and has no reason to encourage criminal elements anywhere in the state or the Niger Delta to engage in acts that threaten peace, security, or the country’s economy.

“The Governor has consistently emphasised that peace in Rivers State is his priority and that he is willing to do whatever it takes to maintain it, as governance and development can only thrive in a secure environment.

“Governor Fubara strongly warns against any attempt to exploit the ongoing political crisis to incite violence in the state, using his name as a cover. He also cautions against economic sabotage and urges those responsible to desist.

“Furthermore, bloggers and social media operatives pushing false narratives should immediately stop their attempts to create tension and disorder, as their misleading reports have already led to harmful decisions that do not serve the state’s interests.

“Security agencies must take note of these fake videos aimed at tarnishing the state’s image and take necessary action to identify and prosecute those responsible,” the statement concluded.
