The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has dismissed rumours that Senator George Akume has been removed from office.

In a statement on Saturday, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, described the claims as false, baseless, and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

“The information is entirely false, misleading, and lacks any basis in fact. Mr President has no intention of removing the SGF,” the statement said.

The OSGF reiterated that President Bola Tinubu still has full confidence in Akume and his ability to implement the policies of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The President reposes unwavering confidence in the capacity of the SGF to formulate and implement the policies and programmes of this administration,” it added.

The public, media houses, and digital platforms were urged to ignore the rumour and verify information before sharing.

“Spreading unverified or intentionally false narratives not only undermines public trust but also poses a threat to the integrity of our institutions,” the statement warned.

The OSGF also aligned with an earlier denial from the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

“Senator Dr George Akume, CON, remains the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” the statement concluded.
