Reality TV star Josephina “Phyna” Otabor and skit maker Carter Efe emerged as major winners at Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring celebrity boxing event held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Phyna made history by defeating Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing in their scheduled four-round contest, becoming the winner of Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing bout.
The former Big Brother Naija winner produced an impressive performance before stopping Nkechi Blessing in the contest.
Her victory earned her a reported ₦50 million prize and further fuelled speculation about her plans to pursue boxing professionally.
Speaking shortly after her victory, Phyna said she was ready for another challenge and called out fellow actress Etinosa Idemudia, accusing her of repeatedly contacting her through direct messages.
“I came in, and I kept my cool and did the thing. Now I would like to fight Etinosa. I think it is time I teach her a lesson,” Phyna said.
Etinosa, who watched the bout from ringside, immediately accepted the challenge, promising not to back down from the proposed encounter.
“I have been advising you to carry the Edo name with pride. We do not run from any fight. I accept the challenge fully,” Etinosa said.
The event also featured a highly anticipated clash between Carter Efe and musician Speed Darlington. Carter Efe controlled much of the four-round contest and eventually secured victory by technical knockout after Speed Darlington stopped moving during the fight.
The win maintained Carter Efe’s unbeaten record in the Chaos in the Ring celebrity boxing series.
He had previously defeated singer Habeeb “Portable” Badmus on May 1, 2026, at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.
Carter Efe won that earlier three-round contest by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the fight 30-27 in his favour.
The rivalry between Carter Efe and Speed Darlington had generated significant attention before the fight, with both entertainers engaging in a series of heated exchanges during the build-up to their meeting.
Meanwhile, the night’s main event featured a professional championship contest involving Nigeria’s Godday “Zodsolo” Appah and Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah.
Gyimah defeated Appah by unanimous decision to claim the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship, ending the Nigerian champion’s reign.
The Lagos event brought together popular entertainers and professional boxers, combining celebrity rivalries with competitive boxing action and attracting considerable attention from fans.
The event was broadcast live on SuperSport and DAZN, while Bet9ja served as the platform powering the boxing card.
