Let me first of all clear this, Ayo Fayose will not move from PDP to any political party, not even APC. I am 65 years old this year,” he said

Former Ekiti State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Ayodele Fayose, has declared that although the PDP is facing serious challenges, he remains committed to the party and has no plans to defect.

Speaking with journalists after visiting President Bola Tinubu at his Bourdillon residence in Lagos on Monday, Fayose warned that the PDP risks becoming a “carcass” if urgent steps are not taken to revive it.

“Let me first of all clear this, Ayo Fayose will not move from PDP to any political party, not even APC. I am 65 years old this year,” he said.

“Without doubt, the PDP is in trouble. And that’s the gospel truth. I believe if they don’t quickly take steps, the party in itself will become a carcass. That is the truth.”

He acknowledged that those who had left the PDP for the APC had their reasons, but cautioned that failure to address the current crisis could doom the party.

Fayose said his visit to Tinubu was personal and aimed at appreciating the president’s efforts to stabilise the country’s struggling economy.

“My visit is personal, to further encourage him to continue to do what he’s doing for Nigerians. No one is saying it is easy, but there is no miracle that can turn around things overnight,” he said.

He expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, noting that he had always admired his approach, even as a sitting PDP governor.

“Well, even when I was in office as a PDP governor, a sitting governor, I’ve always believed in his leadership. And I did not hide my support for him even before he became the president.”

He said Nigerians should understand the difficulty of governance and appreciate the “courageous steps” the president has taken to stabilise the economy.

“An economy that is down, and today it’s being stabilised. There’s a difference between things changing outrightly. There is no miracle. But stabilising the economy, stabilising the currency. And few courageous steps the President has taken and the achievements of this administration put hope in tomorrow for all of us,” he added.
