Nieria – Plateau State: One person has been killed, and three others injured following a violent clash between rival Sara-Suka groups in the Yantifa community of Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State.
Eyewitnesses reported that members of the warring gangs, armed with machetes, launched attacks on each other, causing panic and forcing residents to flee for safety.
The confrontation, which erupted late Tuesday evening, has heightened fears among locals.
A vigilante leader in Jos, Lawan Chizo, confirmed the incident, stating that security operatives, including soldiers, had been deployed to restore order.
According to him, the clashes involved members of the Sara-Suka groups from Anguwan Rogo and Yantifa, who have been embroiled in a long-standing rivalry.
Despite the intervention of security forces, many residents remain fearful, although authorities insist normalcy has been restored.
The Plateau State Commissioner of Police has called an emergency meeting with community leaders from the affected areas in a bid to curb the persistent gang violence.
This latest incident comes just two days after another bloody confrontation claimed the lives of three gang members near the Al-Mohap praying ground.
