Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its longstanding relationship with Sierra Leone following the official presentation of Letters of Credence by Nigeria’s new High Commissioner, Mrs Ayo Luther-Ogbomode, to President Julius Maada Bio in Freetown.
The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the diplomatic ceremony marked a renewed effort by both countries to deepen cooperation in areas such as trade, security, regional integration, and economic development.
During her meeting with President Bio, the Nigerian envoy conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s goodwill messages and assured Sierra Leone of Nigeria’s continued support in strengthening the historic friendship between both nations. She also congratulated Bio on his role as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Nigeria and Sierra Leone have maintained strong ties for decades through shared membership of ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Commonwealth.
The two countries have also worked together on regional peacekeeping, democratic development, and post-conflict reconstruction efforts.
