A multiple accident on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway on Saturday morning claimed the lives of seven people, with four others sustaining injuries.
The incident, which involved a Mack truck and two other vehicles, occurred when the truck reportedly lost control due to excessive speed, causing it to crash into the other vehicles.
Florence Okupe, the Ogun State Sector’s Route Commander and Chief Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the incident in a statement.
The accident involved 15 passengers, including 13 male adults and two females.
Of the total, seven people died, including six male adults and one female adult, while four others—three men and one woman—were injured.
The injured victims were taken to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital in Ibafo, while the deceased were transported to Idera Morgue in Sagamu.
The wrecked vehicles were cleared to allow for the smooth flow of traffic. FRSC Sector Commander Fasakin Akinwumi visited the scene and extended his sympathies to the families of the victims.
