Masari Says Tinubu Has Best Plan for Nigeria

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and ex-Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has said that President Bola Tinubu has the best plan for Nigeria among the presidents he has encountered during his nearly four decades in politics.

Masari made the statement in a video published on Tuesday by HM Arewa, a Hausa-language media platform. He was reportedly speaking to a group of women at a recent public event in Kaduna.

The former governor expressed support for Tinubu’s administration and his bid to seek re-election in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking about his political experience, Masari said he had not seen any Nigerian president with a better plan for developing the country than Tinubu.

He also dismissed criticisms that the Tinubu administration had achieved little, arguing that previous governments faced similar accusations during their time in office.

Masari cited the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying it faced allegations of sectionalism and tribalism after his first four years in office.

He added that similar criticisms were later directed at the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan and were now being levelled against Tinubu.

He said those claiming that Tinubu had achieved nothing were unlikely to acknowledge the administration’s accomplishments.

The former governor also criticised the use of ethnic and religious sentiments in political discourse, particularly as political activities increase ahead of the 2027 elections.

He questioned the tendency to associate religion with particular ethnic groups, urging Nigerians to avoid rhetoric capable of deepening divisions.

Masari appealed to women preachers to use their influence to discourage divisive messages and promote peaceful political engagement.

He said women could play an important role in influencing their families and communities, particularly through their interactions with their husbands and children.

Masari served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007 before becoming Governor of Katsina State, a position he held from 2015 to 2023.

In August 2026, he was appointed Deputy Director-General, Parliamentary Mobilisation, of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

The 2027 presidential election is scheduled for January 16, 2027, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
