The abductors are reportedly demanding a ransom of ₦400 million for his release.

The traditional ruler of Olayinka community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Salman Olátúnjí Aweda, was abducted by gunmen in the early hours of Saturday.
The abductors are reportedly demanding a ransom of ₦400 million for his release.
Residents who witnessed the incident said more than 10 armed men stormed the monarch’s residence around midnight, forced their way in, and abducted him along with another person in the house.
Both victims were initially taken into the bush by the attackers. However, along the way, the second abductee reportedly told the gunmen he could no longer continue because he had no shoes and dared them to kill him if they wished.
The attackers then allegedly tied his hands and legs to a tree and continued with the monarch.
The Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, visited the community on Saturday morning to express sympathy.
He assured residents that efforts were underway to secure the monarch’s release.
The abduction has heightened tension in the area, with many residents expressing concern that it signals a resurgence of insecurity in Kwara South.
