Kidnappers Seize Two Farmers in Ondo, Demand N10 Million Ransom

Two farmers have been kidnapped by suspected armed men in the Oke-Ifira/Idogun forest area of Akoko South-East Local Government Area, Ondo State.

A relative of the victims said the abduction took place on Saturday while the farmers were working in the area.

The incident was later reported to the police and the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun.

The family alleged that the kidnappers are demanding N10 million for the release of the victims.

Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed that authorities received a report about the disappearance of the two farmers.

However, he said the police have not confirmed any ransom demand.

According to Jimoh, a joint security team made up of police officers, military personnel, Amotekun operatives, local hunters, Agbekoya members and community volunteers has been deployed to the forest to search for the victims.

He added that security agencies are intensifying efforts to rescue the farmers and bring those responsible for the abduction to justice.

The police also appealed to residents to provide any useful information that could assist the ongoing operation.
