A Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square has sentenced Andrew Nice Ominikoron, a driver with the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, to death by hanging for the murder of 22-year-old fashion designer, Bamise Ayanwola.
Justice Sherifat Sonaike delivered the judgement on Friday, ruling that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
The court relied on the doctrine of “last seen” and the victim’s dying declaration to reach its decision.
Ominikoron faced a five-count charge, including conspiracy, rape, murder, and sexual assault.
Bamise was last seen alive on February 26, 2022, after boarding a BRT bus driven by Ominikoron at Ajah, Lagos.
