Dr. Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) Unveils Ifelodun Apàpo Omo Yoruba as the New Voice for Yoruba Unity and Self-Determination

In a historic declaration that echoes the legacy of Yoruba nationalist leaders, Dr. Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, has announced the formal creation of Ifelodun Apàpo Omo Yoruba, a unifying umbrella group aimed at advancing the Yoruba Nation’s self-determination agenda and representing the voice of the new generation.

Speaking on the ideological foundation of this new movement, Dr. Adeyemo traced its roots to the visionary leadership of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who established Egbe Omo Oduduwa prior to Nigeria’s independence a group that later evolved into the influential Afenifere. In the more recent phase of the Yoruba Nation agitation, Prof. Banji Akintoye, whom Dr. Adeyemo referred to as his father and mentor, founded Ilana Omo Oodua to spearhead the renewed self-determination push.

“In the same spirit and tradition of these great leaders, I, CSI Dr. Sunday Adeyemo, proudly announce the formation of Ifelodun Apàpo Omo Yoruba,” he declared.

“Ifelodun will serve as a general group with multiple arms including Ifelodun Elite, Ifelodun Youth, Ifelodun Diaspora, and many more designed to mobilize and represent Yoruba people across all demographics and locations.”

Dr. Adeyemo emphasized that Ifelodun has been in existence for over two years and has steadily grown in strength and purpose. However, reflecting on the legacy of Afenifere and the ongoing needs of the Yoruba struggle, he said it became clear that the younger generation needs its own strong, organized voice.

“My goal is to create something not just for today, but for the next generation a platform that will outgrow us and one day become even greater than Afenifere,” he added.

To lead this dynamic movement, Dr. Adeyemo announced the appointment of his trusted ally, Gani Alagbala, as the new president of Ifelodun Apàpo Omo Yoruba. “You all know his capabilities. I trust him and so should you,” he said.

Calling on all Yoruba sons and daughters across villages, towns, cities, and in the diaspora, Dr. Adeyemo urged them to join Ifelodun and be part of a transformative movement. “Let us unite under Ifelodun and make it the voice and choice of our time. Together, we will lay the foundation for an independent Yoruba Nation and secure its future.”

The founding of Ifelodun Apàpo Omo Yoruba marks a pivotal moment in the Yoruba Nation movement, setting the stage for a new era of unity, strategic organization, and generational continuity.
