More than 650 people have been killed in Iran following a week-long Israeli bombing campaign, according to a report by a U.S.-based activist group.
The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) said on Friday that 657 people had died and 2,037 others sustained injuries since the airstrikes began.
The group, which relies on a network of informants and public sources, revealed that at least 263 of the dead were civilians, while 164 were members of the Iranian military. Another 230 victims are yet to be identified.
HRANA also reported widespread damage to civilian infrastructure, including a children’s hospital in Tehran that was hit by a projectile, though no injuries were recorded.
In Ilam Province, a fire station was reportedly damaged. In another attack, a strike on a car factory in western Iran caused a major fire.
The Iranian government has not released official casualty figures since the strikes began.
Israel has maintained that the airstrikes are aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, which it regards as a threat to its existence.
