I Voted APC In 2015 Because Of Osinbajo – Aisha Yesufu

A chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, Aisha Yesufu, has explained her decision to vote for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2015 presidential election, saying the choice of Yemi Osinbajo as the party’s running mate influenced her decision.

Yesufu said she did not support the APC ticket because of its presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, but because she believed Osinbajo would play a major role in the administration, particularly in managing the economy.

She made this known in a recent interview with the Kaa Truth podcast, where she maintained that she does not regret voting for the APC in the 2015 election.

According to her, she was influenced by reports that Buhari, if elected, would delegate key responsibilities to Osinbajo, citing the former military ruler’s alleged reliance on Tunde Idiagbon during his first stint as head of state.

She said, “I don’t regret voting for Buhari. This is the thing, if I’m to regret voting for Buhari, it will be like this disaster we have now, we should allow it because the next person will be worse.

“It was Jonathan that made Buhari to be acceptable by the people. We had someone who had done so badly and by 2015, we voted for APC. I didn’t vote for that ticket for Buhari but because of Pastor Yemi Osinbajo.

“If you ask me why, I will say because Buhari is known to delegate his duties. When he was a military head of state, it was Tunde Idiagbon that was in charge. They said Osinbajo was going to be in charge of the economy.”

Yesufu’s comments come amid renewed discussions about the political choices made during the 2015 presidential election and the expectations that accompanied the Buhari-Osinbajo administration.
