Five people sustained injuries on Monday after a commercial Toyota Hiace bus reportedly lost control and crashed into two vehicles at Oba-Ile First Gate in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The accident occurred at about 2:45 p.m. when the bus, which was travelling from Lagos, reportedly veered from its lane and collided with two vehicles parked by the roadside.

The bus, with registration number LAM 256 LG, Kogi, was said to have struck the two vehicles identified as AKR 914 FT and DV 724 EKY.

The impact reportedly caused substantial damage to all three vehicles.

A witness at the scene said the bus driver was attempting to avoid another vehicle when he suddenly lost control.

According to the witness, a Dyna truck allegedly obstructed the path of the bus, forcing the driver to make a sudden manoeuvre before the collision occurred.

The witness further alleged that the driver of the Dyna truck fled the scene immediately after the crash.

One of the passengers, Austin Akoji, disclosed that approximately nine people were inside the commercial bus at the time of the incident.

He said five passengers were taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention, while others escaped with minor injuries.

“We were about nine passengers in the bus. Five were taken to the hospital, while some of us escaped with minor injuries,” Akoji said.

Following the crash, security personnel and other individuals at the scene reportedly assisted in rescuing the victims and managing the situation.

Efforts were also made to clear the road and remove the damaged vehicles from the area.

The incident caused concern among motorists and residents around Oba-Ile First Gate, although there were no reports of fatalities as of the time of filing the report.

The condition of the five injured passengers was not immediately known, while the identity and whereabouts of the alleged Dyna truck driver remained unclear.

The circumstances surrounding the accident, including the exact cause of the bus losing control, could not be independently verified at the time of publication.
