FG To Receive Final Batch Of 315 Evacuated Nigerians From South Africa Wednesday

The Federal Government is set to receive the final batch of 315 stranded Nigerians evacuated from South Africa, bringing to an end its evacuation exercise for citizens affected by recent xenophobic attacks and security concerns in the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.

According to the ministry, the fifth and final Air Peace evacuation flight will depart Johannesburg at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, and is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, by about 6:30 a.m.

It explained that the returnees are among Nigerians who registered their interest in returning home following the wave of xenophobic attacks and insecurity in parts of South Africa.

The ministry noted that four previous evacuation flights had already brought hundreds of Nigerians back to the country as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to ensure the safety and welfare of its citizens abroad.

It added that the government remains committed to protecting Nigerians wherever they reside and appreciated all stakeholders who played key roles in the evacuation exercise.
