The Federal Government has officially set 16 years as the minimum age for admission into tertiary institutions across the country.
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced this on Tuesday while declaring open the Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Abuja.
He stressed that the age limit is not negotiable, warning institutions against violating the directive.
Alausa also cautioned that any admission process conducted outside the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) would be considered illegal, adding that those involved would be prosecuted.
He vowed that heads of institutions found guilty of admission fraud would face the full wrath of the law.
