Durosinmi Set to Become Genk’s Most Expensive Signing

Super Eagles striker Rafiu Durosinmi is on the verge of becoming Genk’s record signing after the Belgian club agreed a €10.5 million deal with Italian side Pisa for the Nigerian forward.

Reports indicate that the agreement includes performance-based bonuses, while Pisa will retain a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

If completed, the transfer will surpass Genk’s previous record signing fee of €7 million.

The 23-year-old joined Pisa from Czech club Viktoria Plzen earlier this year but found opportunities limited, scoring one goal in 12 appearances. Pisa’s relegation from Serie A has reportedly played a major role in the decision to sell the striker.

Genk are confident Durosinmi can regain the form that made him one of the most highly rated forwards in the Czech league.

The club has a strong track record of developing Nigerian strikers, including Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare, who both enjoyed successful spells in Belgium.

Standing at 1.92 metres tall, Durosinmi fits Genk’s preferred profile of a powerful centre-forward and is expected to play a key role in the club’s attack.

A successful move could also boost his chances of earning more opportunities with the Super Eagles, where competition for attacking positions remains intense.

Regular playing time and strong performances in Belgium may help him strengthen his case for a place in Nigeria’s national team.
