Destiny Etiko Counts ₦5 Million Loss After World Cup Final

Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has revealed that she lost ₦5 million after placing a bet on the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, saying the experience has convinced her never to gamble again.

The actress shared the information on her Instagram page on Monday shortly after the final between Spain and Argentina.

“First time betting and I lost. Will never try it again. My ₦5 million is gone. In fact, I’m done watching football.
Anxiety almost killed me,” she wrote.

Although Etiko did not reveal the exact bet she placed, her social media posts during the match suggested she was supporting Argentina to defeat Spain.

As the game progressed, she expressed frustration with Argentina’s performance and praised goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez for keeping the team in contention.

Spain eventually defeated defending champions Argentina 1-0 after extra time to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Substitute Ferran Torres scored the winning goal in extra time, securing Spain’s second World Cup title and their first since 2010.

Argentina finished the match with 10 players after Enzo Fernández was sent off, while Spain dominated possession before finally breaking the deadlock through Torres.
