Nigeria – Delta: A student of Delta State College of Nursing Sciences, Osato Edobor, has been issued a disciplinary query for recording and sharing a viral video where students refused to acknowledge First Lady Oluremi Tinubu as “their mother” during her visit to Delta State.

In a letter dated 27th March 2025, the school’s provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, accused Edobor of a “malicious act” by posting the footage on TikTok, stating that her actions violated school regulations. She was given 24 hours to provide a written explanation.

The controversy erupted during Tinubu’s visit for the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Programme, where she distributed 10,000 medical kits to midwives.

As an MC led a chant of “Na our mama be this o,” students instead responded, “Na your mama,” rejecting the sentiment.

The video quickly gained traction online, drawing mixed reactions.

While some Nigerians condemned the students’ response as disrespectful, others saw it as an expression of frustration with the Tinubu administration.

Meanwhile, Edobor has reportedly been pressured into deleting her TikTok account after receiving threats.

Some political influencers have also called on the Federal Government to sanction the school.
