Nigeria – Deltal State: The Delta State Government has directed the immediate withdrawal of the query issued to Nursing Student Osato Edobor by the Provost of the School of Nursing Sciences, Agbor.

State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, announced the directive in a statement, citing the government’s commitment to upholding students’ rights and ensuring a conducive learning environment.

KoikiaMedia previously reported that Edobor was queried after recording and sharing a viral video of students rejecting First Lady Oluremi Tinubu as “their mother” during her visit to Delta for the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Programme, where she distributed 10,000 medical kits to midwives.

During the event, an MC led a chant of “Na our mama be this o,” but students instead responded, “Na your mama,” in a show of defiance.

The video quickly spread online, sparking mixed reactions.

In a letter dated 27th March 2025, the school’s provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, accused Edobor of engaging in a “malicious act” by posting the footage on TikTok, stating that she had violated institutional rules and demanding a written explanation within 24 hours.

Following the state government’s intervention, the school has now withdrawn the query.
