Deadly Russian Missile Attack Hits Kyiv After EU-Ukraine Drone Deal

At least two people were killed and six others injured after Russia launched a missile attack on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, in the early hours of Thursday, Ukrainian officials said.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the strikes hit several districts across the city, damaging buildings and sparking multiple fires. Among the injured was a 16-year-old boy, while three victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

Emergency services responded to fires at a warehouse in the Sviatoshynskyi district and a non-residential building in the Darnytskyi district.

Falling missile debris also caused additional damage and fires in other parts of the city.

The attack came just hours after European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen visited Kyiv and announced a new drone cooperation agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.

The deal is expected to strengthen drone production and defence capabilities through closer collaboration between both sides.

The latest assault underscores the continuing intensity of the war, with missile and drone attacks causing increasing civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure across Ukraine.
