Breaking: Pakistan Mosque Bombing Kills 15, Injures More Than 50 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

At least 15 people have been killed and more than 50 others injured after a bomb attack targeted a mosque in Pakistan’s north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The attack occurred on Friday, September 18, 2026, at a mosque located within a police headquarters in Kohat, a city in the province situated near Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan.

According to initial reports, an explosive-laden vehicle was deliberately driven into the entrance of the mosque as worshippers gathered for Friday prayers.

The blast occurred while people were assembling for the weekly congregational prayers, resulting in multiple casualties and causing panic in the area.

Dr Tahir Shah, who provided information to the dpa news agency, said at least 15 bodies and more than 50 injured people had been taken to hospitals in Kohat following the explosion.

He said the number of fatalities could rise because several of the injured were in critical condition and receiving emergency medical treatment.

Security personnel and emergency responders were deployed to the area following the explosion, while the injured victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The authorities had not immediately provided further details about the identity of the attackers or the motive behind the bombing.

No group had claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of reporting.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly areas close to the Afghan border, has faced a series of security challenges and militant attacks in recent years.
