In a devastating blow to the football world, Portuguese international and Liverpool FC forward, Diogo Jota, has died in a tragic car accident in northwestern Spain, along with his younger brother, André Jota.
According to confirmation from Spain’s Guardia Civil, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on the A-52 highway near Zamora. The brothers were traveling in a Lamborghini sports car when the vehicle reportedly suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking another car, veering off the road and catching fire. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
“We are heartbroken beyond words,” said a brief statement from Liverpool FC. “Diogo was more than just a footballer – he was family. Our thoughts are with Rute, his children, and everyone who loved him.”
Diogo Jota was 28 years old, while André was 26.
