Breaking: Abducted Oyo Headteacher Rescued by Security Operatives

An Oyo State headteacher and farmer, Mathew Owoade, has regained his freedom after a coordinated rescue operation carried out by the Oyo State Police Command alongside other security agencies.

Owoade was abducted on Saturday along the Igbojaye–Budo Aare bush road in Oyo State, triggering an immediate security response aimed at securing his release.

Confirming the development on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said sustained intelligence gathering and pressure from security operatives forced the kidnappers to abandon the victim less than 24 hours after he was taken.

According to the police, the rescue operation involved close collaboration between the police and other security agencies, who tracked the suspects and ensured the victim’s safe recovery.

Following his rescue, Owoade was taken to a medical facility for examination and treatment.

Authorities said he would later be debriefed to provide information that could help investigators identify and arrest those responsible for the kidnapping.

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, praised officers and security personnel involved in the operation for their professionalism and dedication.

He also commended residents who provided useful information that contributed to the successful rescue.
Olugbenga reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, stressing that criminal elements would not be allowed to operate freely or establish hideouts in Oyo State.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue sharing credible information with security agencies, noting that public cooperation remains essential in combating crime.

The police also advised citizens to promptly report suspicious activities through emergency response channels and the Oyo State Police Command’s control room numbers.
