Suspected Fulani bandits have abducted a traditional ruler, Emmanuel Omanji, the Sangarin Dari, in a night-time attack on his palace in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the palace on Wednesday night, shooting sporadically before seizing the monarch and whisking him away to an unknown location.

Residents confirmed the incident to Vanguard, saying the royal father was severely beaten during the invasion.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Nasarawa State, DSP Ranham Nansel, confirmed the abduction.

He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, had deployed the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, alongside the military and local vigilante groups, to launch a rescue operation.
