At least 25 people have died following floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall across northern and northeastern India, officials said on Monday.
Weather authorities have warned that more rain is expected over the coming days.
In Indian-administered Kashmir, 15 people were killed in separate rain-related incidents in the districts of Poonch, Rajouri and Doda, while several others are still missing.
Nine people lost their lives in Nagaland after continuous rainfall triggered multiple landslides.
In neighbouring Assam, flooding claimed one life and affected more than 57,000 people across seven districts.
India’s weather department said monsoon activity is expected to remain strong across several regions of the country for the next six to seven days.
The severe weather has also affected Nepal, where 27 people have been killed, one remains missing and 69 others have been injured since the monsoon season began in mid-June.
Floods and landslides have blocked several major highways, including the main route linking Kathmandu with the southern plains.
Nepal’s weather agency has forecast further rainfall across much of the country, with heavy showers expected in some areas.
