The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured victory in the chairmanship contests of Ikorodu Local Government Area and Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in the Lagos State local government elections.

The results were announced around 12:35 a.m. by officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).

In Ikorodu LG, LASIEC returning officer Aregbesola Yekinni declared Adedayo Ladega of APC as the winner with 38,946 votes.

His closest challengers were Saidat Odofin of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 2,592 votes; Abdulazeez Awesu of the Labour Party (LP), who scored 2,753 votes; and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, who got 68 votes.

In Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, returning officer Priscilla Oluwakanyinsola declared APC’s Hammed Aroyewun as winner with 15,015 votes, defeating PDP’s Liadi Olawale, who garnered 341 votes.

Reacting to the results, outgoing Ikorodu LG chairman, Wasiu Adesina, described the APC’s win as emphatic.

He thanked residents for their overwhelming support and pledged continued delivery of democratic dividends at the grassroots.
