Anambra Police Rescue Four Children, Arrest Woman Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of Minor

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, identified as Anulika Onyeanusia, following the emergence of a disturbing video allegedly showing the sexual abuse and exploitation of a minor in Onitsha.

The incident came to the attention of the police after the video reportedly surfaced online and began circulating, prompting public concern and calls for authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged abuse.

Acting on intelligence gathered in connection with the video, operatives of the Anambra State Police Command on September 10, 2026, apprehended the suspect in Onitsha.

The police also rescued four children during the operation. The children, aged two, three, six and nine years, have been placed under protective care as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.

The command said several items believed to be relevant to the investigation were recovered from the suspect, including sex toys.

The items have been taken into custody as part of the evidence being examined by investigators.

The suspect was subsequently detained for questioning as detectives commenced a comprehensive investigation aimed at determining what transpired and whether other individuals may have been involved.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest and said the investigation was being expanded to establish the full facts of the matter.

Ikenga also disclosed that the suspect’s husband was being questioned by investigators as part of efforts to determine whether he had any knowledge of the alleged incident or any connection with the offence.

The police spokesman stressed that the investigation would be thorough and would seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the children’s welfare and the allegations contained in the video.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji, has directed that the case be investigated comprehensively, describing the alleged exploitation and abuse of children as unacceptable.

The Commissioner also ordered that the rescued children be given appropriate protection and care while the investigation continues.

He directed that their welfare remain a priority and that they receive any necessary counselling, medical attention and other support required following the disturbing allegations.

The command said it would work with relevant child-protection agencies and other appropriate organisations to ensure that the children’s interests and welfare are adequately protected.

Authorities also stressed the importance of protecting the identities of the children involved in the case, particularly as investigations are still ongoing.

The police commended members of the public, vigilante operatives and other individuals whose information assisted the command in locating the suspect and rescuing the children.

The Anambra State Police Command assured the public that investigators would continue to examine the evidence and interview relevant persons in order to establish the facts of the case.

The command further stated that anyone found to have participated in or facilitated the alleged abuse would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of child abuse or exploitation to the appropriate authorities, stressing that early intervention and timely information remain critical to protecting vulnerable children.
